Dream Journal Entry “Our town is a small one, and if you don’t mind me saying’ one of the finest. It’s a small beach community where we all know one another, and we all know there is something special about the place.”
There is a little brunette girl who is taking her grandmother in the shop. You see a lantern hanging in the corner; it has clear glass with a dark red trim. The little girl gets someone to take it down and runs to her grandmother and hands her the lantern. It is exactly what the grandmother was looking for and she asks the girl how she knew where to find it. The girl replies that she just did. They walk out of the shop with the lantern, smiling.
“People say there’s something about the sand, it gets in your blood. No matter how far you move, it’ll bring you back. Ask anyone who lives here; they will say that the properties of the sand keep you healthy.”
You see people walking around very happy and seem to be in enjoying a nice, perfect day. The colors are all vibrant giving the atmosphere a surreal quality to it.
“Of course when your time comes… it can also take as well as give.”
A car taking a turn skids on a patch of sand that has gotten onto the road and travels into the other lane, hitting another car head on. The view zooms in to a close up of the sand.
There is a concert in town and all of the young people are gathered there. It seems like almost a warehouse setting. There are fold out chairs for people to sit in and a small stage area for the band to play. Everyone seems to be enjoying the band except for one person, a boy who keeps wandering in and out of the room with a worried expression on his face. One of the other kids, a girl, sees him and pulls him out of the concert room and asks him what is going on. The boy says that he was expecting someone to show but hasn’t yet and is worried about him. They agree to go and check on their friend. The walk only takes them 10 minutes, since his apartment is close by. As they approached the high-rise apartment they see the emergency fire way has wires sparking blue in the evening, like little fireworks. On top of the building they can see and flickering blue glow with larger sparks. Worried, they approach the complex to find out what is going on. They see a man looking out his window at the wires, adjusting the baseball cap he had on, he kept complaining about his cable being out and wanted to know what was going on. It was then that the kids spotted the broken window. They made their way up the fire escape, careful to avoid any sparks or wires. The window had a human size hole and a fair amount of blood covered both the inside and outside. From looking on the inside they could tell that it was indeed their friends apartment, and he could be seen nowhere inside. The girl was frightened and was unsure what to do. The boy turned to her and said to wait here and to call the police, he could see a trail of blood leading up the fire escape and wanted to see for him self what had happened. The sight on top of the roof was a gruesome one. His friend was there among the wires, or what was left of his friend. The form was sprawled in an unnatural position over the electric wires that bounced and sparked on the concrete of the roof. Poor bastard must have fallen and broke the electrical wires before he collapsed. As he was turning to head back down the fire escape he thought he saw the body move. He turned back and to his horror it was true. His friend’s neck snapped around with a sickening crack, and slowly the arms started moving him backwards toward him. This could not be happening, he thought to himself, no way he could have still been alive. He fought the urge to vomit and just ran. He was amazed how fast he could actually make it down the fire escape. The girl turned and gave him a questioning look ‘just run’ the boy said grabbing her by the arm and urging her down to the street and to safety. Pulling her arm from the boys grasp she scolded him ‘what is going on?’ As if in response the mangled horror that was once their friend thumped to the pavement not six feet away from them. Its limbs were at awkward angles and flesh still smoking and charred in some parts from the live wires. There is an odd shifting, like ripples that seem to be running right under the skin, but they soon faded. Both of them were very disturbed and the boy knew they had to tell someone about what he saw. Down by the beach the sun casts its last light over the ocean waves that are crashing upon the beach You can see people grouped up on the beach, their joints obviously dislocated and limbs flailing all the wrong way as the mass horde of bodies crawls its way up the beach toward the town. Their movements were fast and jerky as if something were tossing their limbs for them. The daytime beach crowds were finally, at least in some form, making their way home. The boy rode his bike as fast as he could; he knew who might believe him. The girl had not quite believed him when he described what he had seen on the roof. She simply stated that dead bodies cannot move. He could see his brother’s house now, if anything someone on the police force would be able to investigate what was going on. I woke up shortly after when the group of zombie people started attacking the town.
